Float Trip - A Photo Story
Photos by Steve DuBois

After a 40 minute flight in the Supercub over the Tanana Hills the
float trip will begin from a gravel bar bush strip.

Unloading and preparing rafts for beginning of the float

The float trip consists of a 50 – 60 mile float on the Salcha or
Goodpaster River. Hills along the river provide many open areas for
easy hiking

Much of the river is a very leisurely, relaxed float

Fish for grayling up to 18 inches with a few up to 20

One of the nice campsites along the river. The trip takes a minimum
of 3 days

Relaxing by the campfire

Jesse with a grayling typical of what can be caught readily on
spinning or fly rods

Flyfishing. Starting in July King Salmon and Chum Salmon can be seen
going upriver.

Melissa with blueberries which become available for picking along
the riverbanks starting in July
